Euthanasia

Euthanasia (sometimes known as assisted dying) is the “painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma.”. It is carried out by an injection. It first causes muscle paralysis and unconsciousness and then stops the heart. Similar injections are used for the death penalty by lethal injection in some states in America.

Euthanasia is only legal in some countries around the world, for example, it is legal in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. There are three types of euthanasia – voluntary, non-voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary euthanasia is when euthanasia is done with the patients consent. Non-voluntary euthanasia is when the patients consent is unavailable. Involuntary euthanasia is euthanasia done without the patients consent or against the patients will. Non-voluntary euthanasia and involuntary euthanasia are illegal in all countries. In many countries there is controversy over the legalisation of euthanasia. This often because of the ethical and moral issues of it.

I believe that voluntary euthanasia should be fully legal as people should have the right to die. If the patient has a poor quality of life they should be allowed to die. There should be no problem with euthanasia if people are not enjoying life as they should be and they feel that there is no point in being alive. Despite this, I believe that euthanasia should only be practised if the patient has an incurable and life affecting condition or disease. If the patient is in a coma they should be allowed to be euthanised if they include this in their will. I understand that this is a delicate subject as it may be thought of as morally wrong and may go against religious beliefs.

Euthanasia is a controversial subject in politics but I strongly believe that euthanasia should be legalised.

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are Perilous

Donald Trump becomes the official president of the United States of America on the 20th January. Vladimir Putin is the current president of Russia. If someone told me that Donald Trump will win the presidency of the USA 6 months ago I would have laughed. I know you may have heard it all before but now that it’s all sunk in, I think we can look at this seriously.

Donald Trump has said that the USA need to increase their nuclear arms. This is frankly ludicrous as they are spending 1 trillion dollars to renew their arms anyway. In my opinion Vladimir Putin will see this as a threat. Vladimir Putin is quite trigger happy, so Donald Trump increasing the USA’s nuclear arms will just give him an excuse to do something silly and broaden his chest. With the situation in Syria and Putin seeming unwilling to have a ceasefire, we all know what Putin is like. This could lead to somewhat of an arms race. I don’t even want to think about that.

Russia and the USA are two of the most (if not the most) powerful countries in the world. Donald Trump is soon to be at the top of one. Let’s just remind ourselves of who Donald Trump is – a sexist, racist businessman who (please remember this is just my opinion) has no idea of what politics is about. He is, in no regard, fit to run the USA. Putin is at the top of the other. He is just as bad. They are two powder kegs.

What is worse for me is that it will be my generation that will be cleaning up the mess that the previous one has made.

2016 was bad, so let’s hope that 2017 is better, I am wrong and, instead, the future is bright.

Happy New Year everyone!

Climate Change/Global Warming Needs to be Classed as a Real Threat

I have some pretty strong views about the environment and climate change etc.

I think the government needs to class Climate Change/Global Warming as a real threat now.

Here are some shocking facts about climate change and global warming:

  • 3 football pitches’ worth of rainforest is being logged every second. This damages animals habitats and the ecosystems. This is very dangerous as animals will not be able to reproduce and therefore, more species will become extinct.
  • The Telegraph have said that humans will live underwater in 100 years’ time due to the ice caps melting, causing sea levels to rise.
  • In 30-50 years’ time Britain could be as hot as Spain is now. This will severely affect people as many will not be ready for the rapid change. Consequently, many people may become ill.
  • Humans emit more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than the absorbing rates of the oceans and plants.

These are just are few of many unbelievable facts about climate change and global warming that could put the human race at a serious risk.

The ozone layer is being torn apart. The ozone layer is a protective sheet if you like in the Earth’s stratosphere. It holds a high concentration of ozone, which absorbs the majority of the Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The breaking down of the ozone layer is a negative impact as when the ultraviolet radiation reaches us it has catastrophic impacts to our bodies. When the ultraviolet radiation reaches us it will be even worse as numerous amounts of people will be affected by it. UV radiation is the main cause of sunburn, early ageing and eye and skin damage (which can lead to skin cancer). When this affects all of us, in the relatively near future, death rates will increase and more people will become ill.

It’s also quite worrying that the President Elect of the USA thinks that global warming is a con!

In my opinion, politicians need to be more aware of the severity of these threats as there needs to be more awareness to climate change and global warming. For example, I would like to see some more encouragement towards recycling. I also think that young people should be made aware of these issues and STOP LITTERING!!!

The world is changing – not for the better. Help save it.

I just wanted to say a special thanks to all the support on my previous (and first) blog! It really means a lot.

My blogs

Hello everyone! This is my very first blog. I hope to blog every couple of weeks or so, so please subscribe to my blogs.

Anyway, this blog is going to be about the EU referendum and the aftermath of it, including the next couple of years.

I couldn’t vote as I am only 14 but I would have voted to remain.

I thought that we would be safer economically and have stronger European allies such as France and Germany.

Obviously, David Cameron resigned as PM because the UK voted to leave and he was a “remainer”. Following this, Thereasa May became PM and still is.

Thereasa May has said that there will not be another General election until 2020, which is wrong in my opinion as she was not voted in by the British public as PM.

She is also being very awkward with a “hard” or “soft” brexit. I think that she should just get on with triggering article 50 and the negotiations period because otherwise she is just going to get on the EU’s nerves because she is faffing about. I know full well that it could be quite a delicate period with our European allies and the EU but we are not really going anywhere at the moment.

The pound’s value has fallen drastically and there has been speculation about our access to the single market. Before the referendum I said that if we leave, we are going to struggle with our economy – it’s bad enough already! I have stood by my word ever since and still believe that, when we leave the EU fully, it is going to take time to rebuild the pound and our economy.

I also think that we are going to struggle to get along with our European allies and that  friction could create some heat with them. I think it is important that our future PMs make sure that we keep allies such as France, Germany and the U.S close.

As for our borders, well, don’t get me started! We already had enough control of our borders. We have a secure border control system and we can feel safe in that. Immigrants help our economy like Lionel Messi helps Barcelona. One of the things that got me really annoyed was all the UKIP and Tory MPs saying “let’s take back control” and whatever; we already have control!!!

Anyway, that’s my little rant about the EU referendum that took place in the UK in June 2016.

I hope you enjoyed reading it :)!!!!!!
